Jaime Lee Garza Jr. also known as “Jay” (born October 2011) is an American Football Quarterback from Del Rio, Texas. From the age of five Jay has had a true love for football. He started as a running back playing flag football and has now advanced to tackle at the age of nine years old.
In the early year of 2021, Jay was challenged by a coach to play quarterback and lead his team to a championship victory. Just a couple of months after, he entered his first year of tackle football where he decided to continue his quarterback journey. Jay finished undefeated and was recognized as the player who scored the most touchdowns and held the most rushing yards within the whole league. Once again obtaining a championship victory. After the season, he was a unanimous pick for the Del Rio 2021 All-Star team where he served as the starting Quarterback. Jay and his team were able to defeat an 11/12 aged team resulting in a 20-0 score game. He led his team with three touchdowns and an amazing game overall.
On June 20th, 2022, Jay attended the University of Texas HOOK ‘EM HORNS Football Camp in Austin, Texas. He impressed coaches and staff with his skills, knowledge, determination, and hard work. Therefore, earning himself the Texas Longhorns Football “Best attitude award” an award that was only given to two members of the camp within his age group. This award was in memory of former linebacker Jake Ehlinger #48. Jay and his team were also awarded for being the undefeated team in the camp within their age group.
In the summer of 2022, Jay entered the flag football season with a goal to throw a touchdown to each one of his teammates in which he achieved. He also led his team once again to an undefeated season and ended with the most completed touchdowns thrown for the whole league. At the end of the championship game, he was named the MVP within his age division.
Jay’s most recent triumph was on July 30th, 2022 in San Angelo, Texas where he came out victorious in a 10U flag football tournament.
Along with his love for sports, Jay has a love for his education. He has been an All-A student since first grade and pushes himself to become better. Jay has a very well-founded understanding that as he grows into the later years of school, he will become a student athlete, but student will always come first. His future plans are to earn a scholarship to a University and become the starting quarterback all while working towards a degree in engineering. Throughout all of his success he has remained humble amongst other athletes and peers. He is one of the most honest, kindhearted, respectful yet determined boys you will ever meet.
