Paxton Smalling | QB | LB/S | Center Grove (Class of 2030)
I’m Paxton Smalling, a 5’11”, 160 lb dual-threat quarterback, linebacker, and safety from Center Grove, Indiana (Class of 2030). I take pride in being a complete QB—accurate in the short game, confident in the deep ball, and able to use my legs to extend plays or pick up key first downs. I thrive under pressure, stay composed in high-stakes moments, and embrace the responsibility of leading my team with poise and preparation.
As a quarterback, my focus is on decision-making, leadership, and putting my teammates in the best position to succeed. I read defenses, adjust plays at the line, and balance the ability to deliver the ball on time with the ability to escape the pocket when needed. I believe a quarterback must inspire confidence, set the tone, and lead from the front—through both words and actions.
On defense, I play both linebacker and safety with toughness, awareness, and physicality. Competing on both sides of the ball sharpens my instincts, makes me a smarter QB, and builds trust with my teammates because they know I’ll do whatever it takes to help the team win.
What matters most to me is being coachable and being surrounded by the right culture. I want to play with high-level teammates who push me, hold me accountable, and make me better. Iron sharpeneth iron. I believe in being around people who work hard, live with strong morals, and share the same goal: winning. Winning not only on the scoreboard, but also in the classroom, in the weight room, in training, and in life.
I carry a 3.85 GPA because I know discipline off the field builds trust on the field. I study film, work in the weight room, and focus on speed and agility because I want every detail of my game to improve. My faith and family keep me grounded, and I strive to play with humility, gratitude, and relentless effort. My ultimate goal is simple: to compete at the highest level, be developed by the best coaches, and help my team win championships while preparing myself for the next level and beyond.
“Iron sharpeneth iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend.” — Proverbs 27:17
