Class of 2029
Scouting Report❗️
Strengths:
• Athletic build with good agility; size is decent for a high school QB and gives room for added strength/mass in future years.
• Good speed / quickness to create outside the pocket, make plays on the run, and extend plays when the protection breaks down.
• Natural balance and body control; seems to be able to change directions and momentum well (especially off-schedule).
• Arm strength above average for this size: can throw deep, make strong velocity throws, fit passes into tight windows occasionally.
Throws / Passing Mechanics
Strengths:
• Capable of making all throws: short, intermediate, and deep. Deep ball can be a weapon when in rhythm.
• Good velocity on throws—ball gets to targets with decent speed.
• Shows good arm talent: ability to throw on the run, adjust his body to make off-platform throws.
Areas to Improve:
• Consistency in accuracy, especially on intermediate throws (10–20 yards), under pressure.
• Footwork in pocket: setting base, rhythm and timing, especially when facing blitzes or when the rush is coming.
• Decision making: reading defenses, going through progressions, avoiding risky throws in tight windows, managing turnovers.
• Release mechanics: possibly adjust for quicker release under duress, ensure the motion is efficient and repeatable.
Running / Mobility
Strengths:
• Good mobility: ability to escape pressure, gain yards on scramble, possibly gain chunk plays with legs.
• Comfortable moving in the pocket and on designed runs / read-option style plays.
• Mental confidence to use legs when needed.
Comparable QB Archetypes
Here are some QB types that Zion may resemble or want to model after, depending on style:
• A more lightly built dual-threat QB early in career who adds strength (think early Jalen Hurts, Tua Tagovailoa, or even younger Lamar Jackson before he bulked up).
• QBs who make most of their damage with improvisation, off-platform throws, and athleticism; but over time lean more on accuracy and decision-making to unlock higher levels.
